Fisher-Price Recall

Fisher-Price Recall

Fisher-Price, the child toy making giant, recalled 967,000 toys on August 1st because of an excessive amount of lead in the paint. Some of these toys include the ever-popular “Elmo” and Dora the Explorer. The toys were manufactured and painted in China (where else?), and apparently Fisher-Price had a longstanding relationship with this company. So how were they blindsighted? Well, they’re still investigating that–

Details about the incident were supposed to release today, but instead were somehow leaked and given to the media. This is the company’s first recall dealing with the painting of the toys, however, the largest recall in Fisher-Price’s history was the 10 million unit recall of  Power Wheels (a fire risk was involved).

Owners of these toys are given a voucher for a lead-free version of the toy- so don’t fret children, Elmo won’t be gone for long… If such a large company as Fisher-Price can have this happen to them, then what can we expect from the lower-budget companies?
